               5 Steps to Better Credit

1. Check and correct mistakes on your credit report from all 3 credit bureaus once a year. Changing any mistakes on your report can take 30 days to 3 months, sometimes longer to correct.
2. Pay your bills on time. It is especially critical that you make promt payments close to the time you need a loan. Late payments can lower your credit scores.
3.Reduce your credit card balances. A heavily weighted factor in your FICO score is how much money you owe on your credit cards relative to your total credit limit.
4.Payoff debt rather than moving it around. Closing or transferring an account simply means you increse your ratio of credit card balance to your credit limit.
5.Don't close unused credit card accounts near loan time. Closing unsed card only raises your balance-to-limit ratio.
